Arthritis

What causes arthritis?

They are two variants of arthritis which affect the feet. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease that, among other symptoms, can cause stiffness and swelling of joints. The most affected areas are hands and feet, especially around the big toe and the ankle.
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that affects joints where the cartilage that supports the movement of joints is worn away with the affected area appearing stiff and sore. The big toe is particularly prone to osteoarthritis because it supports the body's weight.

How to fight arthritis

Along with medical care, it helps to wear orthotics and cushioned inserts that enhance mobility and reduce joint discomfort. The use of shoes with elastic uppers can help prevent arthritis and even moderate exercise, such as swimming, can help restore muscle tone and a certain degree of flexibility.
